Health and Fitness Program
The purpose of the Health and Fitness Program at Cristo Rey Philadelphia is to aid in fulfilling the mission of the school, "...to nurture and challenge young women and men to recognize and realize their full potential..."
Credible research consistently shows that students who develop the discipline of regular physical activity and develop proper nutrition will have greater academic and life-long success.
Our curriculum includes programing that promotes individual well-being and improves the students’ capacity for learning. Our Health and Fitness Program is founded on the following components:
- An understanding and appreciation for the benefits of good nutrition and fitness incorporated into the culture of the school
- Nutritious meals prepared and served for breakfast and lunch in the school cafeteria, in partnership with the Vetri Foundation
- Fitness training (running, group fitness, Zumba, etc.) three (3) times per week for all students
- Fitness opportunities for students outside of school hours at local YMCAs
