Message from the President
Welcome to Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School! Cristo Rey Philadelphia is a new model of private high school that opened in 2012 because of a unique partnership of local educators, businesses and universities. Cristo Rey Philadelphia is a top quality, independent, Catholic high school for students of all faiths. We serve women and men in grades 9-12 who could not otherwise afford a private education.
The Cristo Rey curriculum combines rigorous academics with professional work experience in businesses where the students are mentored by college educated adults.Every Cristo Rey Philadelphia student works five days per month in a real job, for real wages. They work at leading Philadelphia area businesses like Comcast, Independence Blue Cross, FMC, The Philadelphia Zoo, hospitals, accounting firms, law firms, and many others. The job accelerates the students’ development and the wages they earn fund a substantial portion of the cost of their education.
At Cristo Rey Philadelphia, we believe education is the key to unlocking a person's God-given potential, and all students, regardless of the family's income, should have access to high-quality education. Our mission is to nurture and challenge our students to recognize and realize their full potential so that they will grow to love God, respect others and serve their community.
Today, there are 35 Cristo Rey Network high schools operating successfully across the US. Cristo Rey schools serve more than 11,000 students and the students earn approximately $50 million by their own work to help pay for their own education. Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School has graduated 3 classes of seniors. 100% of those graduates were accepted to a 4-year college and 90% of them are still in college today!
Cristo Rey Philadelphia is a community of teachers, businesses, universities, parents and generous benefactors who are collaborating to offer an affordable way for Philadelphia students to realize their full potential. We invite you to join us!
